How to Be a ... Zillionaire!
The third album: a cartoon band, a satire about money and a first US top 10 single in Be Near Me.

Released by Neutron, Mercury and Vertigo, it is the only ABC album to feature founders Fry and White alongside Eden and David Yarritu, who are credited as performers and had effectively no or limited musical contribution. The band appeared in cartoon form on the artwork and in promotional videos, wore outrageous costumes and played false instruments in miming performances. A photo shoot by David Levine inspired the cartoons, and Keith LeBlanc programmed much of the drum machines.
The album peaked at 28 in the UK and 30 on the Billboard 200. Four singles came from it: (How to Be A) Millionaire, which reached 49 in the UK and 20 in the US, Be Near Me, which reached 26 and 9, Vanity Kills and Ocean Blue. Fry told the Guardian that he thought it ahead of its time, and that the record company cared little: at the Phonogram office the band's poster was on the wall with moustaches drawn on it before the record was out. A 2005 remaster added eight bonus tracks.
