- Chrysalis
- Producer
- Mike Chapman
Eat to the Beat was released on 28 September 1979 and produced by Chapman. It reached number 17 in the US and number one in the UK in October 1979, and is certified Platinum in both countries. Three singles came out in the UK: Dreaming, Union City Blue and Atomic. Atomic was written by Harry and Destri, and Harry said Destri had been trying to do something like Heart of Glass before it got a spaghetti western treatment. Ellie Greenwich sang backing vocals on Dreaming and Atomic. The album was also issued as a video album directed by David Mallet. Rolling Stone's Debra Rae Cohen found it unexpectedly and vibrantly compelling, while Robert Christgau said it was not a tour de force like Parallel Lines.
