The title piece of The Pearl is Harold Budd at the piano, playing slowly with the sustain pedal down, inside a halo of Eno's treatments and Daniel Lanois's engineering, recorded at Grant Avenue in Hamilton, Ontario, in 1984. A reviewer at the time described the record as tranquil and reflective, mirroring the lustre of its title. Neither man ever explained the piece; it was never a single and has no known live performance. The upload in the hypersongs web is the 2005 remaster, credited under Budd's name.
