Wilson made the album with Joe Thomas, and it came out on Giant Records, distributed by Warner. He reportedly said, "it's really a Joe Thomas/Brian Wilson album". It was recorded from late 1997 to early 1998 in four places, from Wilson's own house to studios in Key West, Hollywood and Nashville. "Your Imagination" was a top 20 hit on adult contemporary radio. "South American" was co-written with Jimmy Buffett, and Wilson dedicated "Lay Down Burden" to his brother Carl.
He also redid two of his Beach Boys songs, "Keep an Eye on Summer" and "Let Him Run Wild", and the closing "Happy Days" reused a piano riff from a Smile era track, "Holidays". Reviews were mixed. The album peaked at number 88 in the US.
