Made with his touring band of the time and co-produced with engineer David Richards, it reached number 35 in Britain, his first Top 40 album, and did better on the continent: 17 in Germany, 16 in Norway, 13 in Sweden. Rea played much of the bass himself. Mystery Man appeared only on the German LP. Four singles were taken from it, among them I Don't Know What It Is But I Love It, Bombollini, which AllMusic's Sharon Mawer heard as built on jungle drums and pan pipes, and Ace of Hearts. After it, Rea put his effort into touring Europe.
