Released on GOOD Music and Geffen, it was again largely produced by Kanye West, with will.i.am, Devo Springsteen, Derrick Hodge and Karriem Riggins also credited. The only J Dilla production is So Far to Go. Common began work in early 2006 and recorded in the United States, New Zealand, Australia, Hawaii and Spain, much of it while he was filming Smokin' Aces and American Gangster. He explained the title as finding a place in music where you can exist forever, and mentioned Dilla's death as part of the thinking. The singles were The People, The Game, Drivin' Me Wild with Lily Allen, and I Want You.
It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with 155,000 copies sold in the first week and was certified gold in October 2007. At the 50th Grammy Awards it was nominated for Best Rap Album, which went to West's Graduation, and Southside, with West, won Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. Nate Patrin of Pitchfork found it a lead-footed and tired follow-up to Be.
