Life in Slow Motion

The comeback after a three-year break, the last album with Craig McClune.
David Gray, 2005

Released
12 September 2005
Producer
Marius de Vries with David Gray, Iestyn Polson, Craig McClune and Rob Malone

Released on 12 September 2005 in Europe and the next day in the United States, the seventh album followed a muted response to its predecessor and was seen by some as a return to form. Gray cited Sigur Ros, Sparklehorse, Lucinda Williams, Bjork and Mercury Rev as inspirations. It was his first album to use a cello player. He wanted Daniel Lanois to produce, but Lanois was booked, so he turned to Marius de Vries, who had produced Sail Away. Singles were The One I Love, Hospital Food and Alibi.

It debuted at number one in Ireland and in Britain, where it stayed for two weeks. In the United States it debuted and peaked at 16 on the Billboard 200. It was the last album Gray recorded with McClune.
