Open Arms is the ninth track on Build a Rocket Boys!. The Hallé Youth Choir sang on it and on With Love, the two songs where they are most noticeable. It was released as a single with Buffalo Ghosts on the B-side. Pitchfork's Ian Cohen set it against the overblown With Love and said it rings true, a celebration that no one is beyond the convalescent power of the conditional love a family or hometown can offer.
In August 2012 Elbow played it with One Day Like This at the London Olympics closing ceremony as the athletes began to enter the stadium.
