Somebody's Baby

Browne and Danny Kortchmar wrote Somebody's Baby for the 1982 film Fast Times at Ridgemont High, where it is closely associated with the character Stacy Hamilton, played by Jennifer Jason Leigh. It reached number seven on the Hot 100 after entering at number 73 on 31 July 1982, and spent 19 weeks on the chart. It was his highest-charting single and his last top ten hit. It also reached number 14 on the Adult Contemporary chart and number 16 in Canada.

Craig Doerge played electric piano, synthesizers and clavinet, Doug Haywood Hammond organ, Kortchmar and Rick Vito guitar, Bob Glaub bass and Russ Kunkel drums. Billboard called it a "midtempo rocker." An unplugged version appears on Solo Acoustic, Vol. 2 (2008). Yo La Tengo covered it in 1988 on the compilation Human Music, Phantom Planet for Not Another Teen Movie in 2001, and Eric Heatherly in 2009.
