Made in London in the spring of 1969 and engineered by Andy Johns, it entered the British chart at number 1 in August 1969 and reached 20 in America. Rolling Stone found it quite marvellous at the time. James Grashow's pop-up gatefold won NME's award for the best album artwork of 1969. The 2001 remaster added Living in the Past as a bonus track, and the 2016 Elevated Edition carries a Steven Wilson remix.
