When the dance score for IBM 1401 became an album, Jóhannsson added a new final section, and this is it: Part 5, its text based on a short Dorothy Parker poem of love not returned. The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra recorded it in Prague in September 2005 under Mario Klemens, in his and Arnar Bjarnason's orchestration, and it was mixed in Reykjavík in January 2006. 4AD released it as a single on 9 October 2006, three weeks before the album, with Passacaglia by the Bernardel Quartet on the other side and a debossed sleeve by Vaughan Oliver and Chris Bigg.

After his death the Guardian's Joe Muggs quoted the director Aaron Moorhead, who said it was like he wrote his own requiem. setlist.fm logs two live performances, at TENT in Rotterdam in April 2009 and at Thalia Hall in Chicago in October 2016. Rob Simonsen remixed it for the Nerve soundtrack in 2016, the Cavaliers drum corps used it at the 2017 DCI World Championships, and Alice Sara Ott recorded it on solo piano for Piano Works in 2026. The upload in the hypersongs web is the 5:41 single version from the 2006 CD single.
