An instrumental, it came from the CD of early barn recordings Laura Lee gave Bonobo in London. He made it the second track of Late Night Tales: Bonobo, released on 17 November 2013, and the band treats that placement as their first big break. Speer said he had not expected anything to come of their early work. Late Night Tales says it became one of the mix's most popular downloads and streams and helped put the band at the top of Last.fm's fastest-growing artists charts in the US and UK. Zane Lowe, Cerys Matthews, Tom Ravenscroft, Gideon Coe and Don Letts all played it on the radio.
Night Time Stories released it as the band's first single on 26 May 2014, backed with The Recital That Never Happened. It is not on The Universe Smiles Upon You, though it opens the 2019 Japanese compilation whose title translates as Everything Smiles Upon You. Alexander Payne used it in The Holdovers (2023), and it appears on that film's soundtrack album and on the 2026 soundtrack LP for the Apple TV series Pluribus.
Live
setlist.fm logs 51 performances, most of them in 2016 and 2017, and a live version is on Live at Sydney Opera House (2023). The upload in the hypersongs web is the official video for the 2014 single.
