José Alfredo Jiménez wrote the words and music. He died in 1973, and that year Yolanda del Río sang it on RCA's tribute album to him, on which Beltrán sang Corazón, corazón, and Sonia La Única on GAS's 1974 tribute Te recordamos, where Beltrán sang El rey, Las ciudades and Te solté la rienda.
Beltrán made it the title track of Que te vaya bonito on GAS in 1975, arranged by Fernando Z. Maldonado and Rigoberto Alfaro. A year later she sang it at the Palacio de Bellas Artes, and it appears on the live box of those concerts. The upload in the hypersongs web is presented as a live recording from her 1976 concerts at the Palacio de Bellas Artes.
