Sometimes

The eighth track on Loveless, written and sung by Kevin Shields, who also produced and mixed it. It was never a single. Shields has said most of Loveless began on acoustic guitar, and here the acoustic stays audible: the Daily Trojan heard steady strumming beneath distorted tremolo guitar, with a quiet vocal and no drums, and Rock Remnants traced the sound to open tuning and the whammy bar. Nima Aminian, writing in the Daily Trojan in 2016, found it about as direct as the album gets and still unlike anything else.

Lost in Translation

Sofia Coppola used it in Lost in Translation (2003), in the taxi ride back to the hotel after the karaoke night, with Bill Murray's Bob and Scarlett Johansson's Charlotte. It was the one older My Bloody Valentine recording among Shields's five tracks on the soundtrack, licensed from the 1991 Sire master. Cineplay heard its snarling guitar over a gentle melody as an echo of the slow-growing tension between the two, and Andrew Gilman of the Cornell Daily Sun said it fits the film so well it seems to have been written for it.

Live

It did not appear in the band's early setlists or on the 2008 reunion tour. Its first known performance was on 4 December 2009 at the ATP Nightmare Before Christmas the band curated at Butlins Minehead, and they played it on the next two nights too. It returned on the 2013 tour, opening the show in Tokyo on 30 September, then at eight North American dates in November, the last at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York on 12 November. At Philadelphia, XPN described Shields strumming it on a heavily distorted, amplified acoustic guitar. setlist.fm logs twelve performances in all. DROWSE recorded a cover with Dulce Membibre in 2015.
