It opens Different Class and was released on 25 September 1995 as a double A-side with Sorted for E's & Wizz. The pair reached number two in the UK, Pulp's second successive number two of that year. Cocker wrote it from his nights in Sheffield clubs in the 1980s, where packs of men dressed alike picked on anyone who looked different. The song imagines the misfits forming an alliance and taking over. He said the title came from the misshapen chocolates his mother bought, and Banks called the song a call to arms and a rallying cry.
Mark Webber, who had recently joined, reworked the guitar solo Cocker first wrote. Looking back in 1999, Cocker said he could no longer listen to the song, and that the idea of speccy losers coming out of the libraries and taking over was a nice one that did not quite happen. Simon Reynolds wrote in Pitchfork that it tries to repeat the power of Common People but speaks for a smaller part of the population, in a tone he called strident and defiant. The Guardian included it among Pulp's ten best songs.
