The fourth album was the first in 22 years and the first since Souvlaki to include Simon Scott. It was preceded by the singles Star Roving in January 2017 and Sugar for the Pill in March. The cover is a still from Harry Smith's film Heaven and Earth Magic. Halstead produced it, and the band recorded at The Courtyard Studio in Sutton Courtenay, Sound Gallery in Exeter, The White House in Kewstoke, The Farm 2 in St Merryn and Zigzag Music Productions in Hilton. Chris Coady mixed it at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles and Heba Kadry mastered it.
Halstead wrote most of the songs alone. Slomo and Go Get It are credited to all five members, and Falling Ashes to Halstead and Scott. It was widely acclaimed and holds a Metacritic score of 82 from 30 reviews. Consequence's TJ Kliebhan wrote that it delivered a fresh dream-pop sound that is still uniquely Slowdive. Pitchfork's Sean T. Collins said it offered maximum-volume shoegaze better than the band had ever done, and Paste placed it 237th on its list of the 250 greatest albums of the 21st century so far in October 2025.
