The second track on The Tired Sounds of Stars of the Lid follows straight on from Part 1, and the two were written and recorded together by Wiltzie and McBride. Kranky chose Part 2 to close its 2004 label compilation, Kompilation. The upload in the hypersongs web is the album version.

On stage the two parts travelled together. setlist.fm logs Part 2 24 times, from Dublin in November 2007 to Brussels in October 2016, and the band played it again at their final show in Reykjavik in December 2017. A 2008 recording from the Triple Door in Seattle runs both parts together in a little over thirteen and a half minutes.
