The compilation collects songs the band released on EMI between 1982 and 1988. It spent twenty-one weeks on the UK Albums Chart, peaking at three, and sold over a million copies worldwide. EMI put it out without the band's supervision. Hollis said: "A compilation album is not my idea of an album." It includes the 1983 single My Foolish Friend, which had never appeared on a full-length release. Its success was followed by the remix album History Revisited in 1991, which Talk Talk sued EMI over. A 2007 reissue added a bonus DVD.
