Released in France on 28 May 2001 and in the United States on 29 May by Astralwerks, it has longer tracks that lean more toward electronics than the duo's previous records, and it brought in collaborators including Beck and suGar Yoshinaga of Buffalo Daughter. Beck is credited with lyrics on The Vagabond, and Yoshinaga with lyrics on Sex Born Poison. The artwork, by Ito Morabito, features Monument Valley. Reviews were generally less favorable than for the earlier records, although Q named it one of the 50 best albums of 2001. It reached 7 in the UK and in France, 88 on the US Billboard 200, and is certified gold in the UK. The American website Stereogum takes its name from a lyric in Radio #1.
