The tribute was planned and produced by Bill Bentley, who had earlier made the Roky Erickson tribute Where the Pyramid Meets the Eye. It presents covers of the songs from Oar in the same order as the original, with Robert Plant on Little Hands, Mark Lanegan on Cripple Creek, Alejandro Escovedo on Diana, Mudhoney on War in Peace, Robyn Hitchcock on Broken Heart, Tom Waits on Books of Moses, and Flying Saucer Attack on Grey/Afro. Jay Farrar and the Sir Omaha Quintet take Weighted Down, and Beck covers Halo of Gold. A hidden final track is Spence's own Land of the Sun, the song he wrote for The X-Files soundtrack Songs in the Key of X, which was not used.
