Gary Paczosa recorded and mixed it, cutting basic tracks at Seventeen Grand, often without a click, and overdubbing at her home studio. He remembered that she cared about tone as much as performance and would call off a session if it was not working that day. The songs came from writers including Michael McDonald, Todd Rundgren and Ron Block, and Dolly Parton and Lyle Lovett sing harmony on Dreaming My Dreams with You. It reached number 5 on the country albums chart and went gold, and the title track was nominated for a Grammy. Joel Bernstein of Country Standard Time heard a pop star more than anything else.
