Anthrax composed it during the 1986 tour, and Ian said they were already playing it live on the Spreading the Disease tour. Benante brought in riffs for it. The lyric concerns the plight of Native Americans forced to live on reservations. The single came out in June 1987, with a 12-inch carrying covers of Black Sabbath's Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and S.O.D.'s Taint, both recorded for the release. The cover showed a Native American on a coin.

Jean Pellerin and Doug Freel directed a video of the band playing the song live, which got moderate rotation on MTV. The BBC's review called it, with I Am the Law, one of two successful singles that "have lost none of their insistent urgency". The song appears in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock and was released as downloadable content for Rock Band and Rocksmith 2014.
