Cut the World was recorded live on 2 and 3 September 2011 with the Danish National Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Rob Moose, and released on 7 August 2012. Ossian Ryner recorded and mixed it. It carries songs from across the catalogue, among them Cripple and the Starfish, You Are My Sister, Rapture and The Crying Light.
The title track is a new song written for Robert Wilson's play The Life and Death of Marina Abramovic, which starred Anohni, Marina Abramovic and Willem Dafoe. Future Feminism is a spoken-word track taken from a speech Anohni gave during one of the concerts, about the effects of patriarchy on the global ecology. The album has a Metacritic score of 82 from 31 reviews, and in 2012 it received a double silver certification from the Independent Music Companies Association for sales of at least 40,000 across Europe.
