Swanlights was released on 12 October 2010 by Secretly Canadian, a day earlier in the UK on Rough Trade, and was preceded by the Thank You for Your Love EP. Many of its songs were recorded while the band was tracking The Crying Light, and two tracks come from live recordings made in Copenhagen and London in 2008 and 2009. A 144-page art book of the same name, with paintings, collages, photographs and writing by Anohni, accompanied it. She described the work as a collision between joy and a sense of hopelessness.

Flétta is a duet with Björk, who wrote it and sings on it. Ghost features the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by James Holmes, and Salt Silver Oxygen the Danish National Chamber Orchestra conducted by Rob Moose, with Nico Muhly credited as writer on both. Greg Calbi mastered the record at Sterling Sound. On 30 October 2010 Anohni performed at Lincoln Center with the Orchestra of St. Luke's, conducted by Moose, and dedicated the evening to Kazuo Ohno, who had died that June.

Mojo gave it four stars and Tiny Mix Tapes 4.5 out of 5. Stereogum placed it eighth in its albums of the year. In 2011 it received a gold certification from the Independent Music Companies Association, for sales of at least 75,000 across Europe.
