Recorded in September 1975 in France using the Rolling Stones Mobile Truck, with Ron Nevison engineering, and mixed in Los Angeles by Eddie Kramer. It was the only original Bad Company album without Hipgnosis artwork: the cover is by Kosh. The vinyl sleeve was shiny silver, and the gatefold photograph shows the band round a couch near a television tuned to a Bugs Bunny cartoon. The booklet of the deluxe edition says the screen first showed I Love Lucy, but approval to use it could not be had.
It reached number 4 in the UK and number 5 in the US, and has sold a million copies in the US alone. The cover of the Coasters' Young Blood reached 20. Silver, Blue & Gold was never a single, yet it is a rock radio staple. Rodgers plays piano on the title track.
