Jesus Christ is on the 1975 test pressing of Third. In 1978 Aura issued it as a single in the UK, backed with Big Black Car. Erlewine of Pitchfork grouped its carnivalesque flourish with the homespun baroque pop of Stroke It Noel, the carnality of Kizza Me and the sway of O, Dana.
R.E.M. covered it on their 2002 fan club Christmas single, the Decemberists included it on the 2017 compilation Holidays Rule Vol. 2, and the Monkees put it on their 2018 holiday album Christmas Party.
