Woman's Gotta Have It

The second album: Punjabi vocals and a French guest turn.
Cornershop, 1995

Released
23 October 1995
Label
Wiiija
Producer
Tjinder Singh

Released on 23 October 1995 by Wiiija, the second album blends indie rock with Indian music. Its opening track, 6am Jullandar Shere, is sung in Punjabi and was released as a single along with Wog, and a video for the former was sometimes played on MTV Europe. My Dancing Days Are Done is sung in French by the guest singers Parsley and Sasha Andres.

Christgau gave it an A minus and called the band a cheeky Anglo-Punjabi consortium, praising the casually irresistible Punjabi street tune of 6 A.M. Jullandar Shere. Trouser Press found the record relatively slick and very different from the debut, and named 6 A.M. Jullander Shere, My Dancing Days Are Done and 7:20 A.M. Jullander Shere as its most enchanting tracks. Singh handled production, with Nick Simms on drums and Pete Hall on percussion.
