From Luxury to Heartache
The fourth album, the last studio record before the 1986 split and the last until 1999.
Culture Club, 1986
- Released
- April 1986
- Label
- Virgin
- Producer
- Arif Mardin
Arif Mardin replaced Steve Levine as producer in a bid to refresh the band's sound. Mardin had to leave the sessions because of prior commitments, and engineer Lew Hahn finished the record. The final credit gives production on all tracks to both men.
It reached number ten in the UK and number 32 in the US. Move Away was the lead single, reaching number seven in the UK and number twelve in the US. God Thank You Woman peaked at number 31 on the UK singles chart. The album sold fewer than one million copies worldwide at the time, and it was the last studio album by the band until Don't Mind If I Do in 1999.
