Rising for the Moon

The tenth album, made with Sandy Denny back in the band, and the last she sang on.
Fairport Convention, 1975

Released
1975
Producer
Glyn Johns

The core of Fotheringay, Denny, her husband Trevor Lucas and Jerry Donahue, joined Pegg, Swarbrick and Mattacks for this record. It was the only Fairport album with no traditional material, and Glyn Johns, the producer, brought a more polished, pop-influenced sound. Mattacks left midway through the sessions and Bruce Rowland took over the drums.

The album entered the UK chart on 12 July 1975 and reached number 52. It reached number 143 on the Billboard 200, the highest US chart position of any Fairport album. The hoped-for breakthrough did not come: Donahue left in December 1975 after touring, followed by Denny and Lucas.
