The Greatest Hits: Why Try Harder

Released on 19 June 2006, the compilation adds two new tracks, Champion Sound and That Old Pair of Jeans, to earlier material. The songs are mostly radio edits, and Ya Mama and Star 69 were left off. The UK cover is a painting by the Brighton artist Julie-Anne Gilburt of the man from the You've Come a Long Way, Baby sleeve, now with wings. The US cover instead shows Christopher Walken from the Weapon of Choice video. The title is the slogan on the man's T-shirt. A DVD of videos, Why Make Videos, appeared with it.

Pitchfork's Marc Hogan described the Fatboy Slim formula as eclectic samples, sloganistic vocal snippets and an all-around drunken good-time spirit.
