The last three tracks of the debut album play as one: Dave Stewart's Lobster in Cleavage Probe and Gigantic Land Crabs in Earth Takeover Bid, then the 38-second The Other Stubbs Effect, credited to Pip Pyle. Lobster is the sung part, carried not by Sinclair but by the Northettes, Barbara Gaskin, Amanda Parsons and Ann Rosenthal, over the quartet with flutes from Geoff Leigh and Jeremy Baines. Stewart wrote its short, whimsical words too, which promise that all troubles melt away and tell the listener not to fear a lobster or molluscs. Land Crabs is the four players alone, and The Other Stubbs Effect is Stewart by himself on Rhodes and Pianet.
Live
Lobster was in the set well before the album. A Lobster Extract was played on the Dutch tour of March 1973, and the BBC Top Gear session of 24 July 1973 ran Lobster in Cleavage Probe into Invasion of the Landcrabs. Through 1974 the pair were fixtures, opening the RTL broadcast from Paris that June and serving as the encore late in the year. Lobster was not played after February 1975, but Land Crabs came back with the 2005 reunion, segued from Halfway Between Heaven and Earth, and is on Live in Japan 2005. It was in the set at Pyle's last gig in August 2006. Head Heritage identified Amsterdamage, on the archive set Hatwise Choice, as a live reworking of Land Crabs.
The upload in the hypersongs web is a fan upload of the 1974 album recording that runs the three closing tracks together: Lobster in Cleavage Probe, Gigantic Land Crabs in Earth Takeover Bid and The Other Stubbs Effect.
