Label
Moshi Moshi; Astralwerks (US and Canada, 29 November 2005)

Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard

The debut was released in the United Kingdom on 24 May 2004 by Moshi Moshi Records. Taylor and Goddard wrote every song and also produced and engineered it. It was produced and recorded in The Bunker and mastered at The Townhouse by Frank Arkwright. Darren Wall designed the sleeve and Owen Clarke drew the illustration.

Astralwerks issued an extended version in the United States and Canada on 29 November 2005, adding A-B-C, Hittin' Skittles and From Drummer to Driver. Moshi Moshi put it out again as a digital download on 3 May 2009 with four bonus tracks, including a Four Tet remix of The Ass Attack. In 2014 the Independent Music Companies Association awarded it a silver certification for sales of at least 20,000 copies across Europe.

Metacritic averaged 67 from 14 reviews. Pitchfork's Sean Fennessey called it a successful but safe entree with kitschy yet deeply affecting lyrics, and later pointed to the Keep Fallin' boast about being like Stevie Wonder but able to see things. AllMusic described the sound as quirky electro-pop.
