It was the first song the band wrote, in 1985, before it even had a name. Eric Avery wrote it. An early version appeared in 1987 on the soundtrack of the film Dudes and later on Kettle Whistle. The band recorded it again for Nothing's Shocking in a higher key, to fit the rest of the record. The 1988 single carried Standing in the Shower... Thinking on its B-side, and it was reissued on 18 April 2009 to promote the box set A Cabinet of Curiosities.
Two videos were made. Andrew Doucette made the first in September 1988 from existing footage, without the band's input. The band disliked it and shelved it, though it was the version shown mostly in Europe and Australia. The second was directed by Farrell, with live footage by Modi Frank shot at Scream in Hollywood on 19 August 1988. MTV banned it over nudity, and a censored cut aired on Headbangers Ball and 120 Minutes. The band put out the full version as part of the Soul Kiss video on Valentine's Day 1989. Excerpts of the first video turned up in an episode of Beavis and Butt-Head.
Ian Cohen of Pitchfork called its riff brilliantly boneheaded and thought it was preordained for Beavis and Butt-Head's approval. He also pointed to the chorus line Cash in now, honey. Pitchfork's Cohen saw the band play it at the Echoplex in Los Angeles on 16 February 2009.
