It entered the Billboard Top LPs chart in the issue dated 2 May 1970 and peaked at 197 during a two-week run. The single was Follow Me. AllMusic's Greg Adams described a "comparatively heavy folk-rock sound" and said it would surprise anyone expecting the pretty folk usually associated with Denver. He noted that Denver tackles two Tom Paxton songs, including Forest Lawn, and called Aspenglow the cut usually included on anthologies. Whose Garden Was This, mostly covers, followed in October 1970.
