Lang and Mink wrote it, and Sire and Warner Bros. released it as the second single from Ingénue. The title refers to the Canadian magazine Chatelaine, which named lang its Woman of the Year in 1988. The recording was rebuilt after a first attempt with a live band. Mink said that version sounded like a really bad bar mitzvah group, so he laid down acoustic guitar to a click and built the song up again, much as on the demos.
The video, directed by Rocky Schenck, shows lang in an exaggeratedly feminine manner among pastel colours and bubbles reminiscent of The Lawrence Welk Show, and the arrangement features accordion. Larry Flick of Billboard wrote that lang lovingly pays homage to Lawrence Welk. Laura Snapes of Pitchfork called it a towering millefeuille of accordion, frisky percussion and strings.
It reached number 58 in Canada and number 68 in the UK in 1993. It was nominated for the Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance a year after Constant Craving won it.
