Recorded over three days in August 2016 in New York by Davey Jewell, at the same session as its companion LP Sun Gong, and mixed in Los Angeles. The title came from a chorus Laraaji improvised in the studio: the song was dropped, but the words were kept. Matthew Jones of Warp Records suggested both titles. Laraaji has described using pitch shifting, reversed loops, music apps and apps of nature sounds on these records. It has been counted as his 51st album.

All Saints presented it as a carefully sequenced listening experience and as a way into his music, running from percussive jams to vocal hymns and drones. It came out as a double LP of eight tracks and as a double CD that adds Sun Gong as a second disc. Sun Gong itself appeared on clear vinyl about two weeks earlier. Flood's Jon Pruett gave the pair 8 out of 10, hearing "prime examples of the kind of celestial trance music" he had made since the 1970s. In Record Collector, Phil Smith found it slightly unfocused, with soul-jazz touches that at one point recalled Terry Callier.
