Don't Cry Now

Her first Asylum album, a slow year in the making, and the start of her work with Peter Asher.
Linda Ronstadt, 1973

Released
1 October 1973
Recorded
1972 to 1973
Label
Asylum
Producer
JD Souther, John Boylan, Peter Asher
Length
35:34

Made over about a year and reported to have cost over $150,000, it was delayed chiefly by her tour with Neil Young. Souther produced overall, Boylan produced or co-produced four tracks and Asher co-produced two. Ronstadt said they were like kids in the studio, and that two days after finishing it she was back on the road. It reached number 45 on the Billboard 200 and number five on the country albums chart, and went gold. Billboard found it fresh and reflective; Robert Christgau gave it a C+.
