Decca announced In a Landscape on 29 May 2024. Richter said the music is about connecting or reconciling polarities: the electronics with the acoustic instruments, the natural world with the human, and the big ideas of life with the personal and intimate. It is the first solo album he recorded at Studio Richter Mahr, and it looks again at the concerns of The Blue Notebooks from the perspective of 2024. The vinyl is dedicated to Yulia, Lucie, Noah and Alma.

The lead single was Movement, Before All Flowers, which closes the vinyl edition. Pitchfork's Vanessa Ague heard melodies sloping into downtrodden chords, pointed to A Colour Field (Holocene) growing from a five-note phrase, and described the field recordings of cafes, footsteps and birds between pieces as a poignant break. Metacritic gives it 74 from five critic scores.

The vinyl edition has 19 tracks, with nine short Life Studies between the longer works such as They Will Shade Us With Their Wings, And Some Will Fall and Late and Soon. Richter played piano, synthesisers and Hammond organ, with strings from Max Ruisi, Zara Hudson-Kozdoj, Connie Pharoah, Eloisa-Fleur Thom and Max Baillie, and Rupert Coulson mixing. The album launched his first world tour, which began at La Bâtie-Festival de Genève on 7 September 2024.
