Matador released it as a single on 7 October 2020, the day it announced his signing, and the same recording later opened Afrique Victime. The full band plays on it, Coltun produced it and Seth Manchester mixed it. Moctar said it is about how people in relationships lose themselves and grow jealous and envious of others, and that it is aimed at everyone rather than one person. Matador adds that he turns to Allah for guidance so as not to become that person. Exclaim! heard the lyric as a parental scolding.
Matador called it a white-hot ripper, Stereogum a fiery desert blues track, and AllMusic heard desert blues with fearless rock and roll swagger. The video mixes Robert Beatty's illustrations and animation with cellphone footage from Niger: wedding performances, friends and family, the markets of Niamey and Agadez, and the Agadez mosque.
Live and other versions
It is his third most-played song on setlist.fm, and the band played it in their 2022 KEXP session at THING Festival. A demo appeared on the 2022 deluxe edition, a 7:36 drum-machine version on Niger EP Vol. 1, and five remixes on Afrique Refait, by Jay Mitta of Tanzania and DJ Diaki of Mali. The upload in the hypersongs web is the official music video, which uses the single and album recording.
