Da Real World

The darker second album, first titled She's a Bitch.
Missy Elliott, 1999

Released
22 June 1999
Label
East West, Elektra, The Goldmind
Producer
Timbaland

Timbaland produced the whole album, which East West, Elektra and The Goldmind released on 22 June 1999. Elliott first wanted to call it She's a Bitch, and she dedicated it to the victims of the Columbine High School massacre. She said this album took almost two months to record. Guests include Eminem, Redman, Big Boi, Nicole Wray, Juvenile, B.G., Lil' Mo, Beyonce, Eve, Lady Saw, Da Brat, Aaliyah, Lil' Kim and MC Solaar.

Pitchfork's 2024 review described it as framed around The Matrix, darker in tone and less whimsical than Supa Dupa Fly, with many beats built from sounds Timbaland collected on a trip to Japan. The Guardian said it sounded as though it was beamed in from the future. It debuted at number ten on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum on 4 February 2000. The singles were She's a Bitch, All n My Grill and a remix of Hot Boyz.
