Said and Done first appeared on The Bells in 2009, where it runs 3:14. On Spaces it is the third track and lasts 9:39. Pitchfork's Nick Neyland named it the most impressive piece on the album, describing a hammering piano motif looping for most of its length while Frahm filters it through textures light and dark.

Neyland heard giddiness in it, the sound of a creator lost to his work, and noted that the occasional burst of audience noise is a reminder these are not studio takes. The motif returns in the long medley For / Peter / Toilet Brushes / More, which Neyland said brings back the strident piano of Said and Done.
