Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt opens Tauhid. Martin-McCormick wrote in Pitchfork that it takes the Acknowledgement section of A Love Supreme as a starting point. It opens with almost five minutes of piano and guitar led by Dave Burrell and Sonny Sharrock. A bowed bass and piccolo duet between Henry Grimes and Sanders follows.
