Rid of Me

Island released it in April 1993 as the first single from Rid of Me. It was recorded in December 1992 at Pachyderm with Albini producing, and Harvey, Ellis and Vaughan playing. It reached 27 in the UK and 80 on the Eurochart Hot 100, and did not chart in the US.

The video was directed by Maria Mochnacz and released on 19 April 1993. It was shot in a barn in Bristol, with Harvey in the leopard-skin coat from the sleeve in front of a backdrop reading HEY I'M ONE BIG QUEEN. It was later used on Beavis and Butt-Head.

Gina Morris made it a single of the week in NME, and Melody Maker's David Bennun said the single was worth having for the stark demo of Man-Size. The UK CD carried Reeling, a demo of Man-Size and a demo of Hook, and all the songs were written by Harvey. Berman wrote in Pitchfork that the film Attack of the 50 Foot Woman inspired it. Harvey praised Albini because she thought the instruments on the album sounded as if they were breathing.
