Recorded over six weeks at Chipping Norton with Alan Moulder, starting about a week after Nevermind came out, it was chosen from 25 recorded tracks; the band had planned a double album until Sire and Warner suggested a single one. Gardener called it their pop record. It reached 5 and later went gold, and Leave Them All Behind reached 9. Steve Lamacq gave it nine out of ten in NME, and Pitchfork later placed it fifth among shoegaze albums. The 2012 edition added a film of the Brixton Academy show of 27 March 1992.
