Neil Diamond wrote I'm a Believer for the Monkees. Wyatt's version came out as a Virgin single two months after Rock Bottom, produced by Nick Mason, and reached number 29 on the UK chart. He performed it on the BBC's Top of the Pops in September 1974, in his wheelchair. An NME report from October 1974 relates that the show's producer Robin Nash found the wheelchair distasteful, to which Wyatt replied that if it did not hang him up, he saw no reason why it should offend anyone else.
At the Drury Lane concert on 8 September 1974 the band played an extended version. Trouser Press describes Wyatt's reading as droll and notes that it is also on the Peel Sessions recorded that September.
