Wainwright began recording with Mark Ronson in New York in May 2011 and resumed in the fall after a summer off. Tom Elmhirst mixed it, and the Guardian reported in December 2011 that he and Ronson were already mixing after less than two months of recording. Wainwright described the songs as the most pop and radio-friendly he had made, and as manly and sexy. Guests include Martha Wainwright, Sean Lennon, Nels Cline of Wilco, members of the Dap-Kings and Nick Zinner.
The album came out in the UK, Canada and Australia in April 2012 and in the US on 1 May. Its first single was the title track. The Guardian's reviewer called it a smooth, easygoing collection with a vintage gloss from Ronson.
