Released in 1983 as the B-side of It's Like That and also known as Krush-Groove 1. The track was a loud Oberheim DMX drum machine, a few scratches and nothing else, and the rhymes went after weak rappers by name while setting them against the group's success. Run mentions Orange Krush and Larry Smith, and DMC mentions St. John's University. The liner notes of Together Forever: Greatest Hits 1983-1991 claim it was the first dis rap on record.
Shea Serrano's Rap Year Book chose it as the most important rap song of 1983, and Rolling Stone placed it 406th on its 2021 list of the 500 best songs. Public Enemy sampled it on Night of the Living Baseheads (1988), and the group reused it for Beats To The Rhyme on Tougher Than Leather. Wu-Tang Clan covered it in 1997.
