- Cogumelo
Released by Cogumelo Records on 30 October 1987, it was the first Sepultura album with Andreas Kisser on guitar. All the songs were recorded in August 1987. It leans more toward death/thrash than Morbid Visions did. Kisser said that on joining he brought in traditional heavy metal and a more melodic style. The band sent tapes to the United States that made radio playlists, and Roadrunner signed them and released the album internationally before it had seen them play. The cover by Ibsen Otoni was inspired by the Scorpions' Blackout and Anthrax's Spreading the Disease.
Eduardo Rivadavia of AllMusic gave it four stars in a retrospective review, calling it the first Sepultura release to make serious waves with international critics and fans. The 1990 reissue added a re-recorded Troops of Doom, made on 26 and 27 August 1990. Kerrang! noted that it was bootlegged in Europe before Roadrunner re-released it.
