Cut with his touring band in Hilversum early in 1979, it opens Spectral Mornings. Pete Hicks sings lead, with Hackett and Nick Magnus joining on the verses and chorus, and the instrumental second half rides Dik Cadbury's bass groove and Magnus's choirs under Hackett's Les Paul to the fade. Wikipedia calls it his solo signature song, and Hackett has said he is proud of its harmonies. It was the album's first single, backed with Lost Time in Córdoba on Charisma in June 1979, in a shorter edit.

The 2005 remaster added an alternative mix, and Steven Wilson remixed it for the Premonitions box in 2015.

Live

He first played it in Paris on 21 April 1979, a warm-up for the Spectral Mornings tour, and in 1979 it ran on into an outro called Jacuzzi. setlist.fm logs more than 800 performances, second only to Firth of Fifth in his sets, and it was still there on his UK tour in October 2026. Filmed versions include the Bottom Line in New York in 1980 and Central TV in Nottingham in 1990, and it opens the 2020 Live at Hammersmith set. On stage he has called it a bit of an old friend. The upload in the hypersongs web is the album version, from the 2005 remaster.
