The Rainbow Dome was Rupert Atwill's idea: a geodesic dome at the Festival for Mind-Body-Spirit at Olympia in April 1979, which Hillage described as a non-aligned relaxation space. He and Giraudy wrote one side each, her Garden of Paradise and his Four Ever Rainbow, about twenty minutes apiece of floating synthesizers and echoed guitar. It reached forty-eight in Britain. The Guardian included it in its thousand albums to hear before you die, and later writers have called it a blueprint for ambient music and a precursor of psychedelic trance. In 1989 Alex Paterson of The Orb played it in the chill-out room at the club night Land of Oz, and the meeting that followed led to System 7. The upload in the hypersongs web is the whole album.
